The Mercury Prize 2008 shortlist has been announced.
Held at a small event at Covent Garden in London this morning, the big names were Radioheard (frontman Robert Plant also picked up a seperate nominee), The Last Shadow Puppets (which makes it Alex Turner's third in a row), whilst Adele, Elbow, and Estelle also made the shortlist.

Rachel Unthank And The Winterset (The Bairns)
The winner(s) will be announced at the ceremony in London on September 9.
